ARTIST STATEMENT

​

The juxtaposition of the warmth and organic shapes of live edge wood to the cold, hard lines of steel blend into functional works of art. My work creates a connection between these two diverse elements. 

 

I blend live edge wood, metal and reclaimed materials into custom modern industrial style
furniture, lighting, home accessories and home interior products. In my work, I want to see some evidence of it being handcrafted. I feel this gives the piece an identity and keeps it from appearing impersonal and machine-made.  

 

My designs are determined by the unique character of the materials and the construction
process. I have a fluidity in my design process which allows me to explore options and work with
the materials as the piece is being transformed into its final form.
