I was born and raised in North Dakota and studied art and design at Minnesota State Moorhead (BA), the University of Minnesota Duluth (MFA), and East Tennessee State University (MA). I occasionally teach at the Minneapolis College of Art & Design.
Urban Mandalas are photo collages paying tribute to cities. Since 2015, I have been traveling to each city and photographing architecture, public sculptures, murals, and more. You can read more about the project in the press section. I share new cities on Instagram & Facebook and have artwork available in the Shop.
What is a mandala? A mandala can be any circular pattern. One of my inspirations for this project came from Buddhist Tibetan Sand Mandalas [Wikipedia], which act as a map of the cosmos and represent its impermanence. For my Urban Mandalas, pixels take place of sand honoring the idea that everything is connected—all is one and one is all.
